Shy Layers

Because it can show so much information, the Time Layout window never seems to show enough. You frequently find yourself scrolling through it or expanding it. Some users even use a secondary monitor just to accommodate a large Time Layout window. If you hate to scroll, but are reluctant to buy another monitor, you may want to take advantage of the Shy Layers feature. Marking layers you're not currently using as shy enables you to quickly conceal them in the Time Layout window. This way, you can concentrate on just the layers you're using, and conserve precious screen space. Though they may be hidden in the Time Layout window, shy layers always appear in the Composition window.

To make a layer shy or not shy:

Click the shy switch for a layer in the Time Layout window to toggle the icon between Not Shy and Shy (Figure 5.31 and Figure 5.32).
