Chapter 13. Keyframe Interpolation > Changing Interpolation

Changing Interpolation

You can also specify keyframe interpolation and roving keyframes using a dialog box. This is one way you can apply hold interpolation to a keyframe.

To change a keyframe's interpolation type using a dialog box:

1.
Select one or more keyframes for a layer property.

2.
Choose Layer > Keyframe Interpolation (Figure 13.93).

Figure 13.93. Choose Layer > Keyframe Interpolation.

The Keyframe Interpolation dialog box appears (Figure 13.94).

3.
To set the temporal interpolation for the selected keyframes, select an option from the pull-down menu (Figure 13.95):

Current Settings retains the temporal interpolation methods currently applied to the selected keyframes. Use this setting when you want to change other interpolation settings, but preserve the temporal interpolation.

Linear, Bézier, Continuous Bézier, Auto Bézier, or Hold apply the temporal interpolation method you choose to selected keyframes, using default values.

4.
To set the spatial interpolation for the selected keyframes, select an option from the pull-down menu (Figure 13.96):

Current Settings retains the spatial interpolation methods currently applied to the selected keyframes. Use this setting when you want to change other interpolation settings, but preserve the spatial interpolation

Linear, Bézier, Continuous Bézier, Auto Bézier, or Hold apply the spatial interpolation method you choose to selected keyframes, using default values.

5.
For roving keyframes, choose an option for spatial layer properties (Figure 13.97):

Current Settings retains the time-positioning method used by selected keyframes.

Rove Across Time makes the selected keyframes roving keyframes, which are repositioned in time automatically, in order to reduce the rates of change between the non- roving keyframes before and after the selection.

Lock To Time makes selected keyframes standard, time-specific keyframes.
