Nesting

Back in Chapter 4, you learned that a composition used as a layer in another composition is called a nested composition. Without nested compositions, some effects would be difficult or impossible to achieve. Nested compositions can serve various interconnected purposes.

Nesting enables you to treat several layers as a group (in much the same way as you group various elements in other graphics programs, such as Illustrator or Quark Express). As a nested composition, you can manipulate several layers as a unit, rather than attempt to keyframe each one individually (Figure 14.1).
