Do I Need Labels and Inserts?

If you're recording only DVD+RW discs, you should think twice before applying a paper label. For example, Hewlett-Packard includes this warning with each HP DVD+RW disc:

caution

Never use a ball point pen or adhesive labels on DVD+RW media—there's too high a risk of damaging the disc! Any change you make to the balance of the disc (no matter how slight) will likely render a disc unreadable. Remember, DVD technology packs more data on the same disc because the track containing the pits and lands is far smaller, so there's less room for error.
