Project: Transferring a Cassette to Audio CD

Without further ado, let's copy a cassette to separate MP3 files, then to an audio CD—in this case, a live performance of a local band that I captured from the DJ's sound board. (It's not likely that I'll encounter this band in a record store, because they split up over a decade ago without ever releasing anything except a handful of demo singles!)

Requirements

  • Original audio media—for this project, a cassette tape

  • An installed copy of Easy CD Creator 5, which includes SoundStream

  • An installed copy of HP RecordNow (or other recording software)

  • A stereo with a cassette deck and cables to connect to the computer's sound card

  • A blank CD-R disc
