Chapter 15. Converting Albums and Cassettes to Audio CDs

Chapter 15. Converting Albums and Cassettes to Audio CDs

In This Chapter

  • Connecting your stereo and computer

  • Project: Transferring a Cassette to MP3 Files

Are your rare and precious vinyl albums “dying a slow death” from scratches and warping? Are your home-recorded cassettes losing their range and quality? Or (and this shows my age), do you have 8-track tapes that are close to extermination?

If you're like me—an audiophile with several dozen albums and cassettes of irreplaceable music and vocals—you'd prefer to have that material on audio CDs, instead. But how can analog data be transferred to digital format and recorded for posterity?

This final chapter shows you how to use the Spin Doctor portion of Roxio's SoundStream—one of the programs included with Easy CD Creator 5—to make the jump from analog to digital. You'll learn about the equipment you'll need, and I'll demonstrate how to transfer the audio from an album to an audio CD.
