Effort

Purpose. When part of the team’s task becomes mundane or repetitive, expect effort to go down. Tasks for which the team is particularly skilled will experience quicker than usual drop-off rates. Why is our task/work important? What does this team do best?

Team structure. Undefined, missing, or duplicate roles are all sources of team frustration and often detract from effort. The same could also be said for procedures/processes, norms, and competencies. Team size becomes a detractor when there are too few or too many roles or sets of competencies on the team for it to accomplish its task. What tasks need to be performed and how are those tasks assigned to members? Do members know what is expected of them?
