Team Formation: A Special Event

Team Formation: A Special Event

Forming a team doesn’t take care of itself. To form a team that has real potential for success, you should pay careful attention to the five principles discussed in this guidebook. Give your team a clear direction, investigate organizational support, build a team structure that is supportive of the team’s goals and the team’s members, map the key relationships your team will need to build inside and outside of the organization, and be sure to have a plan for monitoring external factors.

Team formation is a special event. Team results are dependent on a good team design, one that accounts for team support, team communication, and team rewards. When a team is formed with those principles in mind, it has a good chance of reaching success.
