Team performance can be improved when members receive feedback on how well they are doing. Positive recognition when things are done right encourages similar performance in the future. One of the most powerful forms of recognition is praise.

Some managers use praise effectively; others use it poorly or not at all. Many team leaders or managers simply do not understand the importance of showing their employees appreciation. Some think, “They work for the company, not me personally. Why should I thank them?”
