Part I: Designing a Successful Blueprint... > The Purpose of a Blueprint

Chapter 1. The Purpose of a Blueprint

Before a blueprint for your new house can be drawn up, you must plan and discuss with the builder the features and characteristics you would like to include in the house. The blueprint is then designed to reflect your taste and include the features that will make your house functional.

The blueprint serves as a guide for the builder to construct the house according to the plan you have agreed on. It also helps the builder determine the type and amount of materials needed. And the blueprint helps define what tradespeople will be needed on the team to build the house.
