Part III: Working Together > How to Run Team Meetings

Chapter 15. How to Run Team Meetings

Does this sound familiar? You get a memo to attend a meeting but don’t know why. You show up on time and wait around for a few latecomers. Discussion finally starts but time soon runs out. People leave before anything is concluded.

Since teams spend lots of time in meetings, you’ll have to improve upon this familiar scenario and find ways to run them effectively. As you’re forming, you’ll get to know each other, draft ground rules, discuss roles, develop your charter, make a master plan, and meet with your sponsor. As you begin working together, you’ll generate action plans, define what data you need to collect and how, review reports from members, and make consensus decisions about your problem or process. And so it goes as you follow your road map.
