Part I: Introduction > Trust: A Foundation for Teamwork

Chapter 5. Trust: A Foundation for Teamwork

In successful teams, relationships built on trust form the foundation of teamwork. Trust is often the result of members working through complicated teaming issues and knowing that each person can count on the next to get a particular job done.

As team members learn over time to trust each other, trust can take on many shapes and forms:

“I can count on you to do what you say you will do”

“I trust that you will not share confidential information or information that may be damaging to me or others”

“I trust that you are committed to the mission of this team and know you will give us your best effort”

“I trust that you will be honest, fair, and ethical as you represent this team to others”

“I trust that you will share quickly and completely any information that could help the team succeed”
