Team Facilitator Functions

The specific functions of a team facilitator include:

  • Team Trainer. Help assess training needs, create development plans, identify outside resources, conduct workshops and provide just-in-time training

  • Team Leader’s Coach. Meet before and after each team meeting to debrief, reinforce, advise, troubleshoot and plan for improvements in upcoming meetings

  • Team-Building Guide. Suggest team-building actions, demonstrate new tools, clarify mechanics, facilitate initial discussions and mediate differences if asked

  • Team Process Consultant. Observe group dynamics, give feedback, encourage self-monitoring, advise about long-term growth and intervene only if essential.
