Part V: Step 2: Problem Labeling > Team Case Problem: Problem Label

Chapter 25. Team Case Problem: Problem Label

Apply Step 21 of the PS/DM Outline to your Team Case Problem by following these directions…

  • Analyze your Symptom List (page 39) to identify what you all feel are common denominators or patterns.

  • If the central issues of the problem aren’t yet clear, use one of the Force-Field Analysis worksheets (pages 61 or 62) to narrow your team’s focus.

  • Fill in any conclusions on the Problem Label Worksheet (page 57) and brainstorm to answer the questions completely.

  • Combine phrases from your list into a short problem statement that is acceptable to everyone.

  • If you reach an impasse, use Key Word Analysis (page 63) to get unstuck and finalize a consensus problem label.

  • Check that your label meets the requirements of Step 21 using the Problem Label Quiz on the previous page.
