Chapter 32. Optional Solutions > Why as Long a List as Possible?

Why as Long a List as Possible?

Insisting on a comprehensive list prevents you from rushing off impulsively with the first idea that sounds good. There’s a chance that if you follow the first off-the-cuff proposal, it will be inferior, inadequate or unbalanced. You’ve come this far by avoiding short-cuts. Don’t give in to the temptation now.

Draw on the creative powers of those involved to examine all possible courses of action. This will ensure all viewpoints are considered. Though this may not be enough to preclude differences of opinion during decision-making, it at least creates the respect and acceptance so often missing in conflict situations. Everyone may have his or her own hidden agenda and/or pet solution. So be sure to get these in the open and on the list.
