Other Resources

Teams sometimes get stuck when they believe they must develop answers solely within their group. To avoid falling into this trap, the facilitator should encourage the group to seek outside assistance on a routine basis. Some measures that will re-energize the members include:

  • Visiting other firms with similar situations; visiting customers

  • Calling the trade association for assistance

  • Seeking assistance from governmental or regulatory agencies

  • Inviting other organizational members with expertise

  • Asking in outside experts

  • Seeking assistance from suppliers or vendors

  • Reviewing library or trade literature on the topic

  • Checking corporate records (maybe the same problem was creatively addressed 30 years ago).
