Process Flowcharts

Before team members can identify causes or make improvement suggestions, they must understand what the system or process involves. Recall that a process is simply a sequentially connected set of events with an outcome. The flowchart helps to ensure that members understand the steps in the process by documenting in proper sequence the flow of paper, information, product or material.

Once these steps are documented, the team can analyze the steps with the aim of eliminating, combining, simplifying, or otherwise modifying the process.
