Do you remember when you were a student and the teacher would unexpectedly call out your name for the answer to a question? If you didn’t know the answer you probably experienced an emotional roller coaster ranging from surprise to panic, and finally to embarrassment or even humiliation. As a result, you may have become less interested in the topic and intimidated by the discussion. Certainly, you were less likely to become a relaxed participant in the discussion. Accomplished facilitators never create unpleasant feelings in attaining involvement. Instead, they attempt to create fulfillment and satisfaction within the team as a result of participation.
