Communication design process

Developing a communication design process is not an easy undertaking. Virtual team members should devote a significant part of the team’s first few meetings to designing a communication process that is effective and realistic. The team’s leader should begin the process by explaining the available communication tools and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Then, the team’s leader should identify the scheduled events, progress reviews, and training sessions in which team members need to participate.

After discussing the available communication tools and scheduled events, members should begin explaining their perspectives on the role and importance of communication in the virtual team. Team members will eventually develop a plan that outlines the team’s needs and the investments that must be made to ensure proper and effective communication among members.
