1: In the following scenario, John, the project manager, and Marisa, a project team member, are seated in the conference room.

John: All in all, I think it was a very successful meeting with management.

Marisa: I’m glad to hear that. Did you find out about the expansion proposal?

John: Oh yeah. Thanks for reminding me. There will be a detailed memo about it later this week, but let me give you an overview.

Now, discuss the following:

Was the communication between Marisa and John effective? Why or why not?

2: Based on the description provided by the person at the front of the room, draw the diagram. You can’t ask any questions or ask to see the diagram.

Draw the diagram again. This time, you can ask questions and then draw the diagram accordingly.

Based on your experience from the previous exercise, do you think asking questions improves the end results? If yes, give a real-life example where you were able to perform better by asking questions.
