Exercises

1: In the following scenario, two project managers, Jennifer and John, are seated in the conference room.

Jennifer: To start the meeting, I have some news that will affect our focus. As you all know, in our last meeting we decided to set up a rotation for sales to review the Web content before it went to freelance editors. Well, the Personnel department approved hiring an internal editor, so that person will be responsible for editing the content.

John: That’s great! The Sales department will be so relieved. However, does this mean we did all that research and planning for nothing?

Jennifer: Not at all. That doesn’t eliminate the backlog of paperwork piling up in the Sales department. We had several other good ideas on the table. Let’s go back through some of them and see what else we can do to fix this problem. Identify the factor that leads to change in the conversation.
