Exercises

1: In the following scene, Jeff (manager), Amy (employee), Matt (employee), Brian (employee), and Jennifer (employee) are seated around a conference room table before the start of a meeting. Matt is distributing agendas.

Brian:(Curious) Mr. Stevenson, I’m surprised to see you here. You don’t usually sit in on our meetings.

Jeff:(Smiling) Well, I have some good news I wanted to pass along to you.

Amy:(Curious) Really? What is it?

Brian:(Somewhat anxious) Yeah, don’t keep us in suspense.

Jeff:(Pleased) I won’t. You know the plan you came up with to streamline the development process of our new products?

Matt:(Curious, glancing at the other team members) Sure. We spent a lot of time putting that together.

Jeff:(Smiling) Well, your efforts paid off. Your plan has already reduced development costs by 11% this quarter.

Amy:(Smiling, along with the rest of the team) That’s wonderful! It’s nice to see that our hard work is paying off!

What achievement does Jeff talk about and why do you think Amy, Matt, Brian, and Jennifer are excited about it?

Discuss the importance of teams in an organization.

2: Make a list of all the things or articles circular in shape that you can think about.
