The following eight-step process provides a proven method by which teams can resolve conflict:

  1. Acknowledge the conflict.

  2. Clarify the conflict source.

  3. Focus on team goals.

  4. Focus on the issues.

  5. Listen to all views.

  6. Look for agreement.

  7. Discuss alternatives.

  8. Create a plan.
