Team Participation

Unit 1

In this unit, you learned how to organize various types of teams, as well as the difference between traditional teams and self-directed work teams (SDWTs). You also learned about the importance, roles, and responsibilities of team members. You learned about the stages of team-building—forming, storming, norming, and conforming—as well as how to define effective goals. Finally, you learned the importance of and how to give constructive feedback, how to deal with different personality types, and how to resolve conflicts.

Unit 2

In this unit, you learned about the importance of team communication. You learned that norms are ideas about appropriate behavior, and that roles pertain to particular members. You also learned that team communication can be misinterpreted due to lack of clarity. Next, you learned about verbal communication, nonverbal communication, and active listening. You also learned about the various meanings of words. Finally, you learned about the hallmarks of supportive and effective communication.
