The Self-Directed Team 315 Team Builder In converting to a self-directed team, modify the current job descriptions to give members more control over making decisions. Specify what matters must be referred to the team as a whole. When there is no leader, there is much more pressure on the members to come up with a mutually satisfactory mission statement. All team members should participate in developing the team's mission statement. They have to work with it and live by it. The best way to start is to form a committee of three or four members to draft the statement. Then have the entire team review and discuss it and come up with the final version. Team Terms
