Preface

Preface

The inspiration for Achieving Results came from the work of Dr. Joseph Campbell, a scholar known for his study of comparative mythology. Campbell found that many myths, particularly those about heroes, follow a similar process. There is a departure from the familiar, help along the way, challenges to be faced, and outcomes to the journey.

The sequence of stages in these age-old myths reveals a road map that can be used today to achieve desired results, especially in times of chaos and change. The more we prepare for the challenges ahead, the more control we have over the outcomes. To make this roadmap applicable to our modern lives, I modified the language for my seminars. It quickly proved to be an effective methodology for not only achieving desired results, but off-the-chart results—those achievements that not only meet but exceed our expectations.

Following is the four-stage process:

Stage 1 HOME: Deciding what you want

Stage 2 HELP: Getting help and creating an action plan

Stage 3 CHALLENGE: Testing the plan

Stage 4 PRIZE: Reaping the results

Achieving Results represents over 60 years of comparative study regarding the common denominators of success. Some say we travel many roads. I believe there is one road, traveled in an infinite number of ways. Let us begin.
