Your vision and result mission now need to be converted into goals. Goals define the efforts needed to successfully complete the vision and mission, while reflect-ing personal or organizational culture and values. Think of goals as incremental results, or “baby steps,” needed to achieve the mission. They are like letters of the alphabet—they can stand alone with a single purpose, but they can also be part of something much larger and more meaningful. Large goals provide general organizational guidance, while more modest, specific goals get the detailed tasks done. There are three levels of organizational goals:
Organizational Level | Goal Example |
Operational goal | Increase revenue 10% by year-end |
Departmental goal | Hire 12 new sales executives |
Individual goal | Open one new account each week |
