Chapter 10. Selecting an option > Evaluate your options

Evaluate your options

After generating your options, you might come to a point where the time and effort needed to search for more options seem to exceed the value of the options you can discover. At this point, you should stop generating options and start evaluating them.

A common pitfall people encounter is analysis paralysis or the process of analyzing a decision to an unreasonable extent. In analysis paralysis, an individual feels compelled to keep gathering more information, continuously analyze that information, and develop more options before making a decision. This pitfall usually stems from a fear of being wrong and might even be used to avoid making the decision.
