Explanation

When making decisions, it is important to have a realistic idea of how much you actually know about the situation. Gathering information can help you learn as much as possible about areas of a decision that are unclear. On the other hand, it is easy to be overconfident about your knowledge and abilities. When people are overconfident, they are likely to hold certain opinions about a situation without examining whether the facts of the situation actually justify their commitment to these opinions.
