Chapter 11. Unit summary: Decision options

Topic A In this topic, you learned about generating options for a decision. You learned that it’s important to brainstorm ideas, challenge your constraints, analyze your objectives, research other decisions, and give yourself ample time. Then, you learned about improving your options. You learned that the pitfalls to avoid when improving your options are relying on the most obvious options, choosing only from the options of others, and eliminating options due to delays.
Topic B In this topic, you learned about selecting an option. You learned techniques to help you choose the alternative that will result in the best decision. You also learned how to evaluate your options. You learned that when you describe the consequences of your options, your descriptions should be accurate, complete, and precise. Then, you learned that the final choice can be based on guidelines, such as considering the magnitude of the decision, thinking about the complexity of the decision, and contemplating how others will view your decision. You also learned that the techniques used to make the final decision are intuition, rules, and the weighted-decision model.
