Before committing a business plan to paper, it is useful to think through the planning process analytically. That is, determine how to gather the data needed, identify factors that could influence the successful implementation of your plan, choose between alternative courses of action, bombard yourself with “what if…?” questions, anticipate results, and formulate contingency strategies. The process involves a continuous sequence of eight interrelated steps as shown below.
