Four Areas That Will Make or Break Your Success

If you have a significant disagreement with a client, walk away from a client, or have a client fire you, one of these areas will probably be the cause:

  • Pricing— You and your client will disagree over whether additional charges were incurred or whether certain hours were required to finish the project.

  • Scope— You and your client will disagree over whether the set price you quoted covered a specific part of the work or whether it should result in an additional charge.

  • Payment— Not just the amount of what you are to be paid, but how soon you are to be paid, and why.

  • Communication— A disagreement over what was said, not said, or should have been said will ensue, with exclamations from either you or your client, such as, “Why didn't you tell me? I could have fixed that!” or “I wished I'd known that at the time!” or “Why wasn't I notified?” or “That really would have made a difference—if I'd known!”
