You wouldn't guess it from the outside, but this tiny store, with day-glo stickers plastered on the windows announcing unbeatable prices and the inside piled high with CD players and other sound equipment, is the hottest piece of retail real estate on the planet — and that's official.

At £17,000 per square foot, the store's prolific sales performance merits a regular entry in The Guinness Book of Records as the world's busiest retail outlet and makes the typical UK performance for the industry of £650 look decidedly pedestrian. With just 200 employees — or "colleagues" as co-workers are known — and a turnover of £25 million, the company is a retail phenomenon.
