Definition

Winners are magnetic. They have a knack for leadership and their records list noteworthy successes. They know how and when to inspire people to make sacrifices (within reason) for the good of the team and the achievement of the goal. They have experienced a championship surge that has at least put them in contention for the gold medal, the league championship, or the respect and adoration of their peers.

Dr. Market’s Observation:

Note that a reputation for having a strong success ethic should not be used as camouflage for cutting corners; this behavior can result in conduct that will flunk due diligence when the next round of funding occurs. Angela Dows of the University of North Dakota once observed that when it was all said and done, it was the culture of success-at-all-costs that doomed Enron more than anything else and when it was time for them to merge with another company, the due diligence caused the deal to collapse. Amen.
