Common sense is often the arbiter on this element. Any investor or investment advisor with a modicum of seasoning will have the required vision to see and react to an entrepeneur’s myopia. It is not difficult to sense blind spots. Unfortunately it is also not difficult to see a blind spot in someone else when it does not exist. This means that you should be careful in drawing conclusions—people can always surprise you, particularly when you are betting that they are being stupid.

We have today one of the most remarkable tools ever devised for protection against business myopia—the Internet. Never fail to use search tools such as www.google.com, www.ask.com, or www.refdesk.com when you suspect you are misinformed or naïve about the market you are contemplating. Watch attentively for signs of competition.
