Element 29. Partnering Candidates > Relevance—Why Add This Element?

Relevance—Why Add This Element?

A partner offers you a significant expansion of options as you approach your launch. Reduction of risk is therefore the key to this element. It is particularly useful for your partner to be a firm or institution(s) that will not swallow you with an offer you cannot refuse. You thus gain access to a customer base otherwise not available in a straight, unadorned attempt to launch your product. Attracting a high-value partner also can have a significant impact upon the amount of equity you must surrender to attract your funding—it creates instant value that will reduce the amount of equity needed to attract the same amount of money.

Dr. Market’s Observation:

Remember, this Partnering Candidates element simply calculates the potential for attracting a great partner; it does not force you to actually follow through (yet)! It’s a wedge against failure.
