Element 18. Honesty and Integrity > Where to Find This Answer

Where to Find This Answer

References are the traditional means to prove your honesty and integrity. What will your references say? Perhaps more importantly, what will industry insiders say about you? What will the newspaper archives and the clerks’ offices of the various jurisdictions in which you have lived say? Perhaps the best way for investors to learn about these issues is to find people who once worked for or around you. They will seek out old enemies and see whether they can be lured into impugning your honesty and integrity. You can hope your enemies will acknowledge that the old conflict was attributable entirely to interpersonal chemistry. However, since the Scorecard is designed for an up-front snapshot, this element is not an easy fit—it takes time to discover the answers. Grade yourself by anticipating the answers, and make sure your résumé is accurate.

Dr. Market’s Observation:

If you are suddenly unemployed and you have never worked in the industry you are pursuing, you have a number of issues regarding your lack of experience. Honesty and integrity are likely not to be among those issues. You will probably have a clean slate here, so insert the high number you may deserve and move on. If you truly deserve a low number because of your past, insert the low number and return to this element for remediation and score elevation later.
