Element 36. High Potential Value > Relevance—Why Add This Element?

Relevance—Why Add This Element?

Its long-term potential could be the most important reason why resources, management, board members, and prospective vendors will be attracted to your enterprise. The higher the potential, the less likely there will be excruciating due diligence up front—people become mesmerized by the possibilities.

High Potential Value is intended to smoke out those opportunities that are certain to attract attention while sidestepping those that are not. If there is high potential value, then a certain magnetic aura begins to emerge, it is a glow that causes the geniuses with insider knowledge to imagine the possibilities. These possibilities include particularly the cornucopia of valuable relationships that could result from even a modest success. Supporters such as law firms and other resources begin to consider your venture as something of an annuity where flows of related or unrelated clientele flow as a result of their affiliation with your venture. Quite often the magnetism of the idea will result in unsolicited offers of support from enthusiastic prospective vendors. It can also attract attention that invites competition (there are legal tactics available for minimizing the potential of premature competition, not the least of which is allowing the public to witness the idea or venture only after appropriate protection). This then is one of the important lights in the sky that will attract attention of investors, management, board candidates, and other resources that you are seeking. Is it possible for this venture to become genuinely valuable?
