Practical Experience—This Deserves the Minimum Weight of 1

This is a critical underlying question that drives all investors—when do I see my money come back? The typical harvest expectation is IPO and some of the more aggressive investors will seek registration rights to assure themselves that a timely IPO will be on its way. However, with a number of ventures, the harvest came with the sale of the company to another company better suited to fund and manage the growth. The lesson is that when you can only foresee modest potential, try to sell. When you can foresee a strong potential, steer toward the IPO harvest and maintain control as long as possible.
