The Coin-Operated Laundry—Explainable Uniqueness score: 6

Clearly we know the capabilities of a cleaners and a coin-operated laundry. We also know the unique capabilities of this machine. However, the manufacturer of the machine is not franchising a patented process. They are selling machines and unless you can compel them to not sell to anyone else in your neighborhood, you will have no uniqueness. I score this as a 6. It is slightly more explainable than it is a compelling unserved need and it deserves one more point. However, it is still not a passing score. Score elevating tactics could include prevailing upon the manufacturer to divert the machines into a franchising system that would allow for acceleration of revenues and margins. It is only then that you would be able to explain the uniqueness and indicate that you owned that uniqueness in your neighborhood. You might also open a store for equipment and attempt to sell the equipment at a premium in your district.
