The teams that were able to attract cash from a customer before they had written a business plan nearly always succeeded. Orders built confidence and signaled all the supporters and resource vendors that this was a real opportunity. There is a troublesome question waiting for the team that cannot attract a customer now: What makes you think that anyone will buy your product or service later? It is possible that you do not have a business, unless you convince a prospective customer to part with some cash (or an irreversible commitment to pay cash) now.
