Using Regular Expressions in Your JavaScript Code

A regular expression looks like a string, but it's not. Instead, it's a separate JavaScript object complete with its own properties and methods. To create a regular expression object, JavaScript gives you two choices. The first is called the literal notation:

var RE_Variable = /Pattern/Flags
