Cross-Browser DHTML Image Examples

Now let's move from the world of text to the world of images. Here in the second half of this chapter I'll show you various cross-browser DHTML techniques for working with images, including creating a logo that stays in place and various techniques for implementing a slide show on your site.

Creating a Logo That Stays in Place as the User Scrolls

If you have a company or personal logo that you display on your Web pages, it's possible to set things up so that logo appears in the same position within the browser window even if the user scrolls up and down or left and right. In fact, since the object you'll be keeping in place is a <div> element, there's no reason why you only have to use it to display a logo. You could also display text, an ad, or site navigation tool. In any case, the code in Listing 35.8 shows you how it's done.
