CGI Resources

Sometimes JavaScript and DHTML can't do everything you need. The following Web sites have information about CGI and server-side programming languages:

  • The CGI Resource Index has links to thousands of CGI scripts. You can copy some of these to your own server, while others are remotely hosted services.

  • Perl is the original language for CGI programming, and still among the most popular. Find out more about this language at Perl.com.

  • PHP is a newer open-source language that works on Web servers, and its simplicity makes it a perfect choice for those experienced with JavaScript. Full documentation is available at the official PHP site.

  • The PHP Resource Index has links to many freely available PHP programs.
