Description

The <isindex /> tag is a holdover from earlier versions of HTML in browsers. Basically, you should not use it under any circumstances. It cannot be a child of any form, and yet it was originally intended to go with a form to the server. This does not make for very “clean” HTML.

The correct syntax for <isindex /> includes a prompt attribute. Listing 25.7 compares the current, “proper” way to retrieve information, and the deprecated <isindex /> tag's use.
