Chapter 16. Working with Visual Tools

As JavaScript has become more popular, software publishers have released programs that will write JavaScript for you, saving you the necessity of learning how to program. The first of these programs to appear were high-end Web design programs such as Adobe GoLive (under its previous name, GoLive CyberStudio) and Macromedia Dreamweaver. More recently, graphic design programs that cater to Web users also boast automated JavaScript creation, from programs such as Macromedia Fireworks and Adobe LiveMotion.

In this chapter, you'll see the benefits and drawbacks of using these visual tools to create your JavaScript, and you'll learn how to use three of these tools (GoLive, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks) to create fully functional Windows and Macintosh trial versions of these programs available for downloading on the Adobe and Macromedia Web sites, so you can install them on your computer and see if they meet your needs.
