Modifying a DHTML Drop Shadow

There are very few modifications you can make to DHTML objects with JavaScript in Netscape. Internet Explorer for Windows, on the other hand, has a non-standard data type called filters, which gives JavaScript access to many ways to modify objects. Script 12.10 shows the use of the drop shadow filter (called dropShadow) to modify text appearance. The drop shadow starts 50 pixels over and down from the original text, and then moves closer and closer until they overlap ( Figure 12.12 ).
