Click-Anywhere Form Fields

One of the things that operating systems do and that Web pages generally do not is to be forgiving to user actions. For example, in Windows or the Mac OS, if you click on the text label next to a checkbox or radio button, it selects the item. But the same interface elements in a Web page's form don't act that way; the user has to click precisely on the item to activate it. Being able to click near an interface element, rather than requiring exact mouse positioning, makes the interface seem more fluid to the user, and improves the experience. In Script 13.4, you'll see how to extend the clickable area of checkboxes and radio buttons.
