JavaScipt Debuggers

Besides the error alerts and the JavaScript console in the browsers, it would be nice to have a program that would allow you step through your code and figure out exactly where the code was broken, not just passively alert you to the problem. Those programs are called debuggers. A debugger lets you check your code for syntax and logical errors. Debuggers can be used to set break points, which allow you to stop the script processing at given points. This enables you to check on the value of variables at any given point and to walk through the code line by line.

Microsoft

Microsoft provides the free Microsoft Script Debugger, which works as an addition to Internet Explorer 4 and later on Windows systems only. Besides debugging JScript (Microsoft's version of JavaScript), Script Debugger can also be used to debug three proprietary Microsoft scripting languages: VBScript, ASP, and ActiveX. You can download Script Debugger from the Microsoft Developer Web site, at http://msdn.microsoft.com/scripting/.
