Chapter 26. Netiquette Guidelines for Networkers

By nature, e-mail is a “cold” medium. Messages written and conversations held on-screen lack the warmth of face-to-face discussions and telephone calls, which benefit respectively from body language and intonation. Couple its coldness with the tendency of many writers to type messages quickly and in some cases thoughtlessly, and it is easy to see how e-mail can result in hurt feelings and misunderstandings.

Adhering to basic rules of netiquette, or online etiquette, as outlined below, can alleviate problems and help cast you in a favorable light.
